What is a Kbis extract?
The Kbis extract is a document that validates the legal existence of a company and provides identification information. It is the “identity card” of a company.
What information does it contain?
It contains information on the identification of the legal person such as :
- The date and number of registration in the Trade and Companies Register (RCS)
- The company name (and also, if applicable, the acronym)
- The legal form (SARL; SAS; SA; EURL; SASU; GIE; SCI)
- The amount of share capital
- The address of the registered office
- The date of the end of the financial year
- It also contains information on the main manager, director(s) and auditors:
- First names and surnames
- Date and place of birth
- Nationality
- Residence address
The Kbis extract also contains information relating to the activity and the main establishment:
- The address of the establishment
- The activity(ies) carried out
- The date of start of the activity
- The operation mode
- The Kbis may also contain observations and additional information.
What is it used for?
The Kbis extract is the proof that the company exists and is actually registered in the trade register.
It can be requested on various occasions: purchase of goods, opening of a business bank account, call for tenders, etc.
It is also one of the documents that a client will check with his co-contractors in the context of the duty of care.
How can I obtain a Kbis extract?
It is possible to obtain a Kbis extract online or in person from the clerk’s office of the commercial court on which the company depends.
It is generally required that it is less than 3 months old after the date of issue.
How to check the authenticity of a Kbis?
There are two ways of ensuring its authenticity:
- By entering the verification code on the infogreffe website, which can be found at the top right-hand corner of the Kbis extract.
- By scanning the QR code at the top right of the Kbis extract. This will confirm the date the document was ordered, the verification code, the name of the company and its registration number.
